The Utah Jazz's mid-year report for the 2023-2024 season
By Chad Porto
The Utah Jazz are officially 22-22 on the season as of press time and have played 44 games so far this season. The NBA season is 82 games long, which means we are three games late for our mid-season report on the Utah Jazz. Oops.
The season has been a wild one and it's fair to say that we didn't see it coming. At least not in the way many thought it would be. If you had said at about the half way point in the year, the Jazz would be around .500 and fighting for a playoff spot, many of us would have said "yeah, that seems like a fair expectation on the year". If you had said they'd only be at that point after starting the season 7-16, most of us wouldn't believe you.
Or at the very least, we wouldn't want to believe you. The season started out rough, and it looked like the team was heading into a catastrophic tailspin that would see the entire team get sold off for more draft pieces and more young players who wouldn't be able to help the team win. Thankfully, that hasn't been the case.
The Jazz's ship has been righted, and now the squad is looking at, hopefully, competing for a postseason birth. We still don't know if any trades will be made, if any players will be dealt for picks or if the team will look to make a major swing and add some players going forward, but what we do know is that the second half of the season is going to be as wild as the first half was.
So with that all out of the way, let's look at the mid-season awards for the Utah Jazz.
