The Utah Jazz and its city is getting a bad rep. The city and its team were named the second worst city to travel to for visiting fans. The folks at Oddspedia (via KUTV) named the Jazz the second worst city to visit, right ahead of the home of the Spurs, San Antonio. The Spurs' hometown took the hit for the worst place for visiting fans to check out, and that's a bit surprising, as San Antonio has a lot to offer.
But when you think places like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles are "fun destinations", it's pretty apparent that the better places to live aren't seen as great destinations to visit. Cleveland, a wonderful city to live in, is in the Top 5 places to visit for NBA fans, and rightfully so. Orlando, home of the Magic and Disney, came in at just 11th, despite being a few minutes away from the most popular attraction arguably in the world.
Denver's No. 1 and we're not sure how that happened.
The biggest issue affecting the perception of the Jazz and their home city appears to be laws that affect drinking and gambling, both things that are hard to do in Utah. Though, you can still find an alcoholic beverage in the city. They're even known to host a pretty popular beer festival each year. It's just not going to be super potent, and with the rate of DUIs in this country, less alcohol isn't a bad thing.
The city is also a haven for the outdoorsy types, who cite the area as one of the best places in the world to go hiking and camping. The views, the trails, and the mountains make for some magical experiences. Not to mention it's one of the best places in the country to go skiing.
So if you favor getting blatto and wasting money on gambling, sure, Salt Lake City isn't for you. But if you like the outdoors, quiet surroundings, and lots of Utah Jazz basketball, there isn't a much better place for you to visit.
