NBA Free Agency has officially begun, and the Utah Jazz are making some moves, albeit pretty small ones. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team will waive center Omer Yurtseven.

Yurtseven's role was inconsistent with the Jazz. He was regularly featured in the rotation early on in Novemberbefore getting spot minutes from December to February. He then saw regular minutes from March onward shortly after the Jazz made some notable deadline moves like trading Kelly Olynyk and Simone Fontecchio.

He finished the season averaging 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 53.8% from the field.

What are the implications from trading Omer Yurtseven?

Yurtseven did not accomplish much with the Jazz during the 2023-24 season, but it's not like much was expected of him. Drafting Kyle Filipowki, controversy and all, likely spelled the end of Yurtseven's time with Utah, as they may try to develop him and get Kessler's once-promising NBA career back on track.

The Jazz will also have plenty of cap space this summer, so waiving Yurtseven creates another roster spot for someone else to fill in.
