Grade the trade: Jazz acquire All-Star point guard in proposed deal

Utah could be looking to upgrade its roster soon, and this trade pitch would net them a championship-caliber starting point guard.

Utah would accelerate their rebuild with this proposal

Of course, the simplest avenue to adding a star immediately is through a trade. Pulling off a deal for a big-name player requires the possession of valuable assets, something the Jazz thankfully have no shortage of. There are several stars that will be gettable via trade this summer, and perhaps the best fit among them for Utah's roster would be Trae Young.

The Atlanta Hawks have supposedly become more and more disillusioned with the pairing of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, with that duo having a relatively clear ceiling. The team appears to be open to moving one or the other this offseason, and Utah could provide a compelling offer.

Young to Jazz

In this deal, the Jazz would get Young while sending back two players and two picks to Atlanta. Utah's 10th-overall pick in the upcoming 2024 draft would be included, along with a 2026 first-rounder. That pick will be either the Minnesota Timberwolves' or Cleveland Cavaliers' first-round pick in 2026, with whichever is the more favorable selection set to convey.

To replace the production of Young, the Hawks would also get two rotation-level guards in Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson. This may not be a massive return in terms of currently rostered players for Atlanta, but the likelihood the Hawks accept could go up since they may be intent on dealing Young to begin with.
