Jordan Clarkson
This understandably sounds ridiculous since Clarkson will make over $28 million for the next two seasons, so he's fine financially. However, from what we've seen with NBA teams trying to avoid tax aprons and seeing guys like Gary Trent Jr. and Tyus Jones having to take substantial paycuts, the days of Clarkson getting eight figures once his current contract expires seem slim.
Since Clarkson will be 34 if and when he becomes a free agent, he may not get the deals he earned earlier in his career. Getting another substantial bonus before those days end could be useful for him. Better yet, Clarkson thriving on such a stage could also up his trade value, which would put him on a win-now contender where he belongs.
