3 players that Jazz fans should watch for in the NCAA Tournament
The last freshman from Baylor who Utah drafted seemed to work out pretty well. Why not try another? Ja'Kobe Walter is a 6'5" guard who provides scoring flashes and great defensive tools, despite his inefficient scoring numbers (remind you of any other former Bears?). Walter often switches between the 2 and the 3 and could pair well with Keyonte George in Utah's backcourt to make defenses see double.
As a freshman, Walter was voted on the Big 12 All-Freshman and third-team All-Conference teams. Oh, and he was also the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. He provided tremendous value for a Baylor team that was among the best in the difficult Big 12, despite their relative youth. He hit 34% of his 3-pointers in his lone year with Baylor but has received praise from coaches across the Big 12.
Assuming his game translates well to the Jazz, adding defensive versatility and a scoring punch could be exactly what this team needs for their championship foundation. He is a high-energy player and is the kind of guy that you love to have on your team. He'll yell after finishing a tough and-one, and flex after a thunderous slam dunk. Energizing a team that already has players like Collin Sexton could make Utah a bit more pesky to their NBA peers.
We can't be certain that he'll perform as well as George out of the gates, though. He lacks strength and doesn't have the frame to put on much muscle. He also needs to tighten his handle, as he still is best served as a secondary scorer out on the wing.
