What's gone unnoticed about Jusuf Nurkic is how much he's embraced being part of the Utah Jazz from Day 1. Even better is that he's done what he can as Utah's de facto center with Walker Kessler out for the season. And even better-er is how loyal he is to his teammates. He recently expressed his loyalty to his teammates, but it came at the cost of mocking someone else.
After the Jazz's impressive win over the Memphis Grizzlies, some fans endlessly debated with former Jazz reporter Tony Jones about the team's best long-term direction. When one suggested that Utah is in better hands going after a prospect than the likes of Keyonte George, Lauri Markkanen, and Ace Bailey, Nurkic had this to say in response.
We should build around you. 🤞🏻 https://t.co/gKDS9QMIZB pic.twitter.com/7EkVWZanzA

Props to Nurkic for making it clear how much he embraces his Jazz teammates by sticking up to them here. It's clear he won't tolerate any nasty narratives about them and will let his voice be heard on the matter if it ever comes up, but doing it in this fashion is not the right way to handle it.
Look, not to be a killjoy, and it's not like this isn't funny, but more than anything, it's mean-spirited. There's no reason to put someone on blast like that when their biggest crime is simply disagreeing with where the Jazz are seemingly headed.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and no matter how disagreeable this may be, it's not right to respond like that.
It's still wrong for fans to act like they can see the future
Even though he didn't say this verbatim, when you get past Nurkic's joke, what he's getting at is that the Jazz have every reason to see what they have with who's on their team right now. That point of view is actually pretty valid, whether fans like it or not.
The bottom line is that no one knows what the future holds. We don't know if the top picks are better than what the Jazz have now just like we don't know the ceiling of the Jazz's three best players when they all hit their peak.
In a perfect world, the Jazz could add a top prospect to their developing core, and that should still be in play no matter how the season turns out. It's possible it won't be a month or so from now, but Jazz fans should enjoy the ride.
The bottom line is that no one knows what the future holds, and until what's coming next for the Jazz becomes definitive this season, there's no reason to lose our heads. Yet.
