The Utah Jazz doing a 2-for-1 in the Josh Green trade opens up a roster spot, which paves the way for a Kevin Love reunion. Yet, Love remains a free agent after all this time. However, it appears Love may not be out of options, as a reunion with Minnesota is now an option for him.
The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski revealed that the Timberwolves are considering a reunion with Love, noting that if it were to take place, his role would be similar to the one he had with the Jazz and the one Mike Conley Jr. and Joe Ingles had with the Timberwolves: veteran leadership.
Moreover, it sounds like the feeling might be mutual.

Three things stand out. One, yes, Minnesota can do this because they waived and stretched Jon Konchar after acquiring him from Utah. Two, Love had a pretty public falling out with the Timberwolves 12 years ago. Time heals all wounds, as they say, so bygones are clearly bygones. Third, the Timberwolves are not the first of Love's former teams to consider him an option this summer.
From how Krawczynski describes it, Love would make sense in that role for Minnesota and there's a sentimental aspect to this because it's where he started his NBA career and after everything went down between them in 2014, his legacy as a Timberwolf would get a boost.
Not to mention he could have a chance at another championship before his career is over.
MInnesota could have done this before, but thanks to the Green trade, they now have the cap room to add Love without crossing the NBA's second tax apron.
Yet another Jazz alum would join the Timberwolves
It's been a trend since 2022 to see Jazzmen start their next chapter with the Timberwolves. More specifically, since Minnesota acquired Rudy Gobert. From there, the likes of Conley, Ingles, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Kyle Anderson, Johnny Juzang, and Cody Williams have all become Timberwolves.
It's funny in its own way, but Minnesota brought in guys who are familiar with one another, which played a hand in what's been their most successful era of basketball in franchise history. The irony would be to bring back Love, who is one of the greatest players in Timberwolves' history, after the team never made the playoffs when he was at his apex.
At this stage of Love's career, it's cool to see him surviving (potentially) solely because he's a vibes guy. That was his role in Utah, which he embraced in full, and it could extend even further. We've seen this happen with Udonis Haslem and Garrett Temple. The most current version of this is Deandre Jordan, and Love may very well be in the same boat.
