Jazz should opportunistically pounce if Giannis' marriage with Heat ends in divorce

The Jazz's season isn't going as planned, but for what it's worth, neither is the Heat's. If the Giannis era doesn't take off, Utah should look into adding him.

The Utah Jazz's season continues to trend in the wrong direction. It's of course way too early to declare their season a lost cause already, but their start hasn't even been mediocre. It's been bad. If it makes them feel any better, the Miami Heat have also underwhelmed.

They have won their last two games, but they're not exactly throttling the competition at 2-4. One could argue their situation is even worse because with Giannis Antetokounmpo, they are on the clock. The Athletic's Sam Amick revealed that the Greek Freak is not going to wait with what's left of his prime.

"Giannis is not trying to wait... the gap between where they are currently and where they wanted to be at this stage is kind of troublingly wide."

The Heat are kind of stuck because they used all of their assets to get Antetokounmpo and are hence limited to dangle what they can to build the best team around him. If this doesn't get better, it will end in divorce, and that's where the Jazz could look into bringing him in.

Yes, we've delved into this before, but only because it's Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the best players in NBA history. It's been a struggle for him and the Heat because their team simply isn't talented enough to give him a contender and it's hard to see how that gets better despite his talent.

But Utah could swoop in, offer Jaren Jackson Jr., along with some of their assets, like the ones the Lakers owe them, and suddenly, they have a pretty appealing offer for Giannis. Better yet, while they would downgrade to JJJ, they would also have the assets to go get more help. Success in the NBA has become more team-oriented than ever before.

Nor Miami nor Utah have to think about this just yet, but with their immense struggles, this isn't the craziest idea. If the struggles continue for both sides, then this idea becomes more sensible.

But would Giannis stay in Utah?

That is the question at heart. The funny thing is, the intel from Amick implies that Giannis wants to win. Miami was one of Giannis' top choices, but it sounds like he will turn on them if they are not winning. That would also mean, by proxy, that he is more likely to stay if his team is winning.

Utah could provide that if they pair Giannis with the likes of Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Darryn Peterson, and Ace Bailey, though to be fair, we can't ignore their struggles. It may very well be worth the shot though, as that core is better than what the Heat have surrounding Antetokounmpo.

It's clear the Greek Freak wants to win with the clock ticking on his prime. As long as the price is right and as long as they provide a situation where he gets to win, this could be win-win for all sides. That is, if all sides become that desperate.
