Jazz Injury Report vs. Knicks: Jordan Clarkson, Walker Kessler, more
By Matt John
The Utah Jazz will play in an afternoon matinee against the New York Knicks. This will be the Jazz's third game in the NBA Cup after falling to both the Lakers and the Suns. If the Jazz want to have any chance of winning the cup, they can't lose again.
They'll be going up against the Knicks, one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. After stumbling out of the gate, the Knicks are starting to figure things out. At 9-6, they come into today's game hoping to make up some lost ground.
The Jazz actually split their season series with the Knicks last season, though both games went down to the wire. Circumstances have changed since then, so things may not transpire like they did last season.
Jazz injury report vs Knicks on Saturday, November 23
Jordan Clarkson (plantar fasciitis) - QUESTIONABLE
Walker Kessler (hip) - QUESTIONABLE
Kyle Filipowski (ankle) - OUT
Taylor Hendricks (broken leg) - OUT
Knicks injury report vs Jazz on Saturday, November 23
Mitchell Robinson (ankle) - OUT
Precious Achiuwa (hamstring)- OUT
Miles McBride (knee) - OUT
Kevin McCullar Jr. (knee) - OUT
Kessler has missed the last several games with his hip issue, which has led to some concern. However, his being questionable indicates that he is on the up and up. Clarkson also missed the Jazz's last game, and he may very well miss this one, but he was featured in the Jazz's game preview beforehand.
Filipowski's a new addition to the report. With him out, the Jazz will have to tinker with their starting lineup again. Hendricks' injury goes without saying.
On the Knicks side, Robinson and Achiuwa have yet to play this season as Robinson had offseason surgery on his ankle while Achiuwa got hurt during preseason. McBride has been absent since November 13, which is a little problematic for the Knicks' second unit.
Projected starting lineups for Jazz vs. Knicks
Until any further updates come, this will likely be the starting lineups for the game.
Jazz: Collin Sexton, Keyonte George, Cody Willlams, Lauri Markkanen, John Collins
Knicks: Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns
Neither team is at full strength, which is a shame because it'd be interesting to see if the Jazz could give the Knicks the same challenge they did last year. However, losing to the Knicks won't be the end of the world for the Jazz since their primary goal is to get a top lottery pick.
If they can make it a competitive game in a loss, that's the ideal outcome.
