Jaren Jackson Jr. gave Jazz subtle reminder why they traded for him

Last night was a non-basketball reason why Utah got him when they had the chance.

It took Jaren Jackson Jr. no time at all to show why the Utah Jazz have every reason to be excited for what the future holds. It may have been only three games where he didn't even play the entirety of any of them, but JJJ pretty much confirmed the future is bright. He further emphasized the point by attending the Orlando Magic-Detroit Pistons game last night.

How's that, you might ask? Well, he and Ja Morant were teammates with Desmond Bane on the Memphis Grizzlies before they traded Bane to Orlando last summer. Even though none of them are teammates anymore, the two NBA stars showed up to support their friend.

This further shows the kind of good character Utah has brought into their locker room with Jackson. It's one thing to add a player with undeniable talent, but character is definitely a factor in building a winner. There were no doubts about JJJ's character before he got to Utah, but cheering on his former teammate further shows how supportive he is.

Having that in Utah's locker room could be huge for their hopes of an extended playoff run next season. He proved to be exactly what the doctor ordered immediately for the Jazz, and instances like these show the kind of camaraderie Utah will need amongst their players to live up to their potential as a team.

The Jazz know they need a good locker room because they previously haven't

A phenomenon that has emerged in the NBA over the past decade or so is that teams that have assembled title contenders don't live up to their potential primarily because their best players simply don't get along, which shows up on the court.

Yup, every Jazz fan knows that this happened to them, as many know about the tension between Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert despite their success together. There have been others, like the Dwightmare in LA circa 2013 and the Kyrie Irving debacle in Boston circa 2019.

Utah has assembled an immensely talented squad going forward. As of now, not only has there not been any indication of there being any troublesome characters in the locker room, but we've heard fantastic stories about the character centering around their young players like Keyonte George and Ace Bailey.

Adding someone like JJJ, who has high character and playoff experience, can go a long way toward helping this team reach its potential, with no character issues getting in their way. Things could change over time, but we don't need to get ahead of ourselves, and nights like last night show that Utah has nothing to worry about regarding the example JJJ should set for them in the locker room.
