Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton have been mentioned quite frequently among Utah Jazz players who are available to acquire. Both could be traded by the deadline, but it might be hard to envision both of them joining the same team seeing how their skillsets overlap a bit.
However, if a team believes that the key to their championship window is acquiring both of them, it's not like the Jazz would say no as long as they get a satisfactory return for them. One team who could give that to them is the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets are not playing up to the standard they had for the past several years, which is causing them to scramble. They could turn to the Jazz to right the ship because the Jazz could help fix them around the edges.
If the Nuggets turn to the Jazz to help them, SportsCasting's Vivek Jacobs proposed the following trade between the two sides.
Jazz receive: Michael Porter Jr., Jalen Pickett
Nuggets receive: Clarkson, Sexton
Jacobs explained why the Jazz would agree to a trade like this.
"Utah would receive a young, talented, and experienced player who could be a part of the new core comprising Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, and Walker Kessler. Pickett is a young player the Jazz may deem worthy of taking a flier on."
The Jazz and Nuggets make sense as trade partners
This is not the first time Clarkson's been mentioned in a potential trade to the Nuggets, just like this isn't the first time Porter has been mentioned as a potential target for the Jazz.
The Nuggets will likely try to find a bigger name than Clarkson or Sexton before setting their eyes on them, but it's not like this is a bad return package. Porter is not exactly young, but there is a scenario where Will Hardy could take his game up a notch like he has with Lauri Markkanen.
The Jazz also could try to see if they could get someone better than Porter since there's a strong likelihood that this is as good as it gets from him. However, there's no telling if a better player would be available in a potential trade involving Clarkson and/or Sexton than him.
One could also point out the lack of first-round picks coming back the Jazz's way in a hypothetical trade like this. In all honesty, the Jazz already have plenty of draft capital as it is to the point where it could become a disadvantage for them in trade discussions i.e., teams will ask for more first-round picks from Utah than they deserve.
The running theme in grading this trade is that, yes, both teams could do better, but this is actually a pretty realistic trade for both sides if they don't have better options.
