Darryn Peterson finally breaks out in Jazz's seventh straight loss

For everything that has gone wrong, at least the Jazz are seeing progress from Peterson!

Well, when the Utah Jazz started losing a few games, their schedule wasn't going to suddenly ease up. They have still taken on quite a few challenges, and now, they're in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. Choosing to be optimistic will rub fans the wrong way, but hey, at least Darryn Peterson finally broke out.

In another saddening loss against Dallas, Peterson made his presence known. He definitely factored into how Utah stayed in the game. 21 points, five assists, three blocks, two steals, and only two turnovers, along with six-for-12 shooting, including three threes, was easily Peterson's best game as a Jazzman.

With more context, Peterson showed he wasn't afraid of the challenge when going up against the likes of Kyrie Irving, a future NBA Hall of Famer who has also made quite the reputation for himself.

Peterson looked poised, confident, and didn't second-guess himself out there. Sadly, it wasn't enough to end this bad stretch the Jazz have been on for some time, but it could be a good sign of things to come. Some of his fellow draftees have stood out better than he has, so if this is a turning point, it's good for both him and Utah.

If he can build off this, the wins will come

Games like these can turn the tides, even if they are losses in the end. Dallas has proven themselves to be even better than expected, so seeing Peterson give that kind of fight against them is a positive sign.

If this is just the start, it could be an awesome development that could turn both Peterson's and the Jazz's season around if all goes well. It's not like Utah's hopes depend on a rookie, but Peterson's impact on the floor could go a long way in getting the team to the level they want.

Yes, they continue to dig themselves into a deeper hole, but Peterson coming around is a positive sign. It's understandable if fans are getting annoyed not jjust by the losses but by those who are deciding to be optimistic about this team.

In fact, the team losing despite Peterson breaking out makes nights like these frustrating, because while he is finally playing like the player Utah wants him to be, their other core ingredients aren't holding up their end. If they can all just put it together, this streak can finally end.

It was hard not to notice Peterson's struggles when the Jazz were losing, and while the losses are still frustrating, seeing him take a step in the right direction should make everyone optimistic about him, even if they don't have good reason to feel the same way about the team.
