Brice Sensabaugh still offers Jazz something no other player can

The Utah Jazz have a surplus of promising talent, but Brice Sensabaugh checks a rather unique box. He's displayed the characteristics of a three-level scorer, with the added benefit of having the strength to power through tight defense and get into the paint.

Though the Jazz have other players with the potential to provide that type of value, no other wing combines power and skill in the way Sensabaugh is able to.

Sensabaugh burst onto the scene in 2024-25 with an eye-opening sophomore campaign in Utah. He averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.2 three-point field goals made in just 20.9 minutes per game, showcasing the ability to produce in relatively limited time.

Most impressive of all was Sensabaugh's efficiency, as he recorded an eFG% of .590 and a slash line of .459/.422/.890.

2025-26 hasn't been quite as kind to Sensabaugh, who's shooting at an underwhelming clip of .444/.332/.878. He's turned a corner since Christmas, however, and is seemingly putting the pieces together in a way that's reminding skeptics of his upside.

With Sensabaugh rediscovering his form and tapping into new levels of his potential, the Jazz have been reminded of how valuable he is to their future.

Brice Sensabaugh can score from the wings with power and finesse

Between Nov. 18 and Dec. 17, Sensabaugh scored in double figures in just four of his 12 appearances. It was a surprising dip in form that unfortunately coincided with a sustained period of uncharacteristically poor shooting from beyond the arc.

Sensabaugh has since scored at least 10 points in 11 of his 15 appearances, including a 43-point eruption against the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 14.

The career-best showing from Sensabaugh marked the second time in three games that he scored at least 25 points. It also spoke to a broader point about what he brings to the table, as he shot 7-of-12 from two, 5-of-10 from three, and 8-of-8 at the free throw line.

A three-level talent as a scorer who can get the job done in any number of ways, Sensabaugh gives the Jazz the perimeter option they otherwise lack for his brand of scoring.

Jazz need Brice Sensabaugh to provide balance to the rotation

Ace Bailey is a three-level scoring prospect who has shown flashes of brilliance, but he's also 200 pounds compared to Sensabaugh at 235. Lauri Markkanen is one of the best scorers in the NBA, but as the franchise player, what he's supported with is as important as what he offers.

Sensabaugh, meanwhile, has no trouble whatsoever putting his shoulder down and embracing physicality en route to scoring opportunities in a complementary role.

Sensabaugh has displayed the ability to play in both on and off-ball roles, which enhances his value immensely. He needs to become more consistent and find his jumper again, but the explosive showings are becoming more common and Utah is wise to be putting him in a position to build upon the signs of success.

Utah has an intriguing collection of offensive players, but Sensabaugh's ability to score at all three levels and utilize strength as an advantage along the wings checks a crucial box.
