If the Utah Jazz does trade away players, they better keep Collin Sexton over Jordan Clarkson

The Utah Jazz have got to favor the younger players like Collin Sexto going forward, over the older players like Jordan Clarkson.

The Utah Jazz may be in the midst of a bad stretch of games, or they may be a bad team showing off who they really are. We’re not entirely sure, we just know that the 3-7 Jazz aren’t as good as they were advertised to be. It’s a shame, really, as the Jazz could be really interesting to watch if they put all the pieces together.

They have all the players needed for a dynamic offense, but yet all we keep getting is the same horrid defense and an offense that is turnover-heavy and selfish in its execution. The buck may stop with head coach Will Haryd but the ball stops with Jordan Clarkson, who seems to think he is the star of the team. At the very least, he shoots like he is.

That type of offense can work from time to time but Clarkson isn’t consistent enough to be that guy. Yet, he is. In his own mind at least. And that has slowed the offense down. That’s just one of the reasons that the Jazz need to pick the younger Collin Sexton going forward. Clarkson is likely to be traded if the Jazz don’t turn things around.

He hasn’t been overly good, he’s become expensive and if the Jazz are not going to be worried about winning games, could probably fetch the squad a late-first-round draft pick from a contenders.

Sexton, on the other hand, is less expensive, just as offensively minded, and is a more consistent shooter. Neither guy is even passable on defense, but Sexton is at least more willing to try. Sexton’s shot is also more consistent and since neither guy is big from three points, consistency matters far more here.

So if the Jazz do decide to start shipping out talents, they shouldn’t keep Clarkson just to trade Sexton. Sexton can do everything Clarkson can do, just at a more efficient rate. Why he’s not playing more than Clarkson right now is anyone’s guess, but Hardy has made a lot of questionable calls this season that we’re not entirely sure about.

But if a fire sale does happen, Clarkson and not Sexton should be on the way out.

That said, if the Jazz want to trade both, we’re fine with that.
