The Utah Jazz got a taste of what to expect from John Collins and Keyonte George.

The Utah Jazz got Keyonte George in the 2023 NBA Draft with the idea that they could find their point guard of the future. Secure the position with an athletic guard who can make a pass from anywhere on the court. Likewise, the Jazz went and got John Collins so they could get a real good rim-runner who can also stretch the court with his shooting abilities.

Collins has been fine since arriving in Utah. His defense needs work but offensively he’s been everything the Jazz has needed him to be. George, however, has been up and down with his usage, finally getting to start over the last two games. He’s averaging just seven points per game, but he’s nearly at five assists per game in just 22 minutes of action.

With both men at different points in their careers, we were unsure how much action they’d have with one another but against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Jazz showed just what this team could be.

In a video posted to Twitter, The Jazz’s official account showed a video to Collins of his posterizing dunk over a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. The man tossing the lob that Collins used to dunk, in spectacular fashion we might add, was the rookie himself George.

The two men linked up for one of the most dynamic highlights of the opening play-in game, and showed a glimpse of what this offense could be. The team has had a lack of dynamic dunkers like Collins for a while, and having someone like him, especially on a team that is desperate for offense, should help things.

Especially if George continues to make huge passes like he’s been doing while avoiding turning over the ball. George tossing lobs to Collins and fellow forward Lauri Markkanen could be a big key weapon going forward, and one we hope to see a lot more of.
