If the Utah Jazz wants to get back into things, the Chicago Bulls are the team to pillage.
The Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz face off on Monday at 8 PM ET, and ahead of the game, we like to take a look at the opposing team’s squad and see what for. However, the Jazz are spinning out of control. They’re struggling to score, they’re struggling to defend and either the team gets blown up or they make massive swings. The Bulls are on the outs and need a full teardown, and the Jazz could do well to take advantage of their situation.
Now, it’d be easy to list off the best three players on the Bulls roster that the Jazz would love to cherry-pick but instead, we’ll be looking at three players the Jazz can get simultaneously. A realistic trade that would net the Jazz three players.
That means we’ll be going for just one big contract, one good modest contract, and one good inexpensive contract. Now, it should be noted that this isn’t going to be a trade that would be easy to make, but is possible. Especially if you’re not worried about depth going forward.
So with that said, here are the three guys the Jazz could swing for that would improve the team overnight.
Zach LaVine
Zach LaVine is off to a slow start for the Chicago Bulls. While he’s posting 22 points per game, he’s shooting just under 41% from the floor and just over 31% from three. He’s usually a 46% and 38% guy from the floor and three respectively. So he’s not awful but he’s underperforming. That said, if you put LaVine on the Jazz, and run some pick and pops with Lauri Markkanen, someone LaVine enjoyed playing with before, it’s very likely that LaVine’s numbers bounce back. He’s the perfect guy for the Jazz, and he can help consolidate minutes at the guard spot.
Alex Caruso
We’ve talked about Alex Caurso a lot here, but that’s for good reason. He’s the point guard the Jazz need. He’s aggressive on defense, he’s a solid passer and his shooting is passable. He’s not the guy you want leading your team as the star player but he’s a good point man and the perfect player to come in alongside LaVine to reshape the roster.
Ayo Dosunmu
The idea is that the Utah Jazz need new guards. The only three the team should even consider keeping are Collin Sexton, Keyonte George, and Kris Dunn, and honestly, Dunn could go if he’s needed to make the money work. Outside of that, the Jazz should clear the board if needed. We’d like to keep Ochai Agbaji, but again, if he’s needed to make the deal work, then he’s needed to make the deal work. Getting back someone like Ayo Dosunmu will help things dramatically. He’s a solid perimeter defender who can shoot when allowed. He may not be a starter for the Jazz, at least yet, but he has an upside.
