Robert Williams – Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are not a good team, and they are not going to be competing for the playoffs. They’re going to wholesale a lot of their older players, and that will likely include Robert Williams, who the team just got from the Boston Celtics.  Williams is not someone who can help the Jazz fix their scoring but he someone who can come in and make a huge impact defensively.

He’s better than someone like Collins defensively (but not offensively, which is why Collins is also in consideration), and because of that defense, the Jazz should seriously consider Williams. He’s a great defender, one of the best in the league for a power forward/center. And while he’s undersized for a center, he’s heavy enough (240 lbs), to move people off the block down low. That type of heft will give someone like Walker Kessler a lot more room to do his thing.

And while Williams isn’t a better scorer than John Collins, Williams defensively may be good enough to have Collins moved to the bench or shipped out with a combination of other assets in a different trade for, hopefully, a better player.
