Old school Utah Jazz fans are going to love the new look uniforms and court

The Utah Jazz’s 1970s uniforms and court look fantastic.
The Utah Jazz are taking fans back in time with their latest uniform and court design. The new design is supposed to capture the essence of 50 years of Jazz basketball. The team was founded in 1974 and started its historical run in New Orleans, Louisiana. While the team wasn’t known for its winning, it did feature a young Pete Maravich, who joined the expansion team after leaving the Atlanta Hawks.
In 1979, just five seasons later, the Jazz would make their way to Salt Lake City, where they’ve been a staple of Utah ever since. When the Jazz left New Orleans for Salt Lake City, they took with them the name and the colors, and those colors have been part of the Jazz’s essence ever since.
So even though the team’s name and color scheme borrow heavily from the New Orleans culture and essence, those colors and uniform designs have become part of the franchise’s most cherished looks.
So it’s not surprising that after 50 seasons, the Jazz is throwing everyone into the time machine for a bit of a throw-back. The team revealed the new look uniforms, and you can see them below.
The Jazz are proud to have had two homes, in two different states, and they say as much in their official 50 Seasons message.
"The 2023-24 NBA season marks the 50th season of Jazz basketball. Revisit history with us as we look back to our New Orleans roots, at our home in the mountains, and live in the moment of this anniversary season. Throughout the season, we will be celebrating our rich history, highlighting different eras, stepping out in classic uniforms, and more."
To really revel in their roots, they’ve also designed a new court for the team to play on, that captures that New Orleans retro look.
The Jazz are also expected to unveil new City jerseys that capture the essence of more classic jerseys. This time the retro 90s “mountain” jerseys are getting a bit of redesign, so fans should keep an eye out for that release as well.
