Jordan Clarkson

As mentioned above, Jordan Clarkson is the second oldest player on the team, but unlike Olynyk, he’s under contract for another two seasons after agreeing to an extension. Clarkson, 31 years old, has been with the team for four seasons so far and seems to really enjoy the city and team.

Why else would he re-up when he could hit free agency and easily make about the same amount of money in a different place? Clarkson likes being in Utah it seems and that’s a good thing, but liking where you are won’t stop Danny Ainge if a deal comes along he likes.

Just like Olynyk, there are a lot of reasons to think Clarkson will get traded. He’s older and doesn’t fit the team’s current window of winning. While Olynyk’s contract is expiring, thus making him an interesting prospect for a team to unload a bad contract through, Clarkson’s contract is the type of deal a team would love to receive back.

It’s on the cheaper side, it’s for several more seasons, and he comes with the added bonus of still being in his prime. Unlike Olynyk, Clarkson had a career year in 2022-2023. He dropped nearly 21 points per game this past season. While the Jazz guard shot just 33.8% from three, he shot above his career average for the season. So a team may very well be willing to ship a first-round pick the Jazz’s way for Clarkson.

The former Sixth Man of the Year Winner is likely to make whatever team he’s on come April a very dangerous squad indeed.
