Former Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert does the unthinkable during international game
By Chad Porto
The Utah Jazz have seen former star Rudy Gobert reach new heights.
The FIBA World Cup is right around the corner and Team France is currently in the midst of the French Summer Tour. They’re taking on four different countries as a sort of tune-up for the FIBA World Cup, with Tunisia, Montenegro, Venezuela, and Lithuania all on deck for a showdown with the French squad. This has given the team a chance to gel with one another, while also allowing former Utah Jazz star, Rudy Gobert, to shock the internet against Montenegro.
Gobert, who is most known for being one of the best defenders in the league currently and maybe of all time, took what was the first-ever three-point shot of his professional career in a game. And even though he had never shot a three in a pro game before, Gobert hit it, officially going 1-1 from deep and now having a 1.000% shooting percentage from three in international competition.
Twitter did not disappoint with some of the comments, the most notable is someone jokingly asking if Gobert was the best stretch-big in the NBA currently.

Of course, it wasn’t just the fans who had fun with Gobert’s unexpected shot selection, but the big man from France as well was taken aback by the fact it actually went in.
Speaking to the media following the game, Gobert is quoted as saying “Tonight, I feel like I lost my virginity.”
Gobert isn’t known for his offense and never has been. He’s a three-time Defensive Player of the Year Award winner and has built a legacy out of that. He won all three as a member of the Utah Jazz, surpassing the two times that Mark Eaton won the award when he played for the Jazz.
Of course, Gobert was dealt to Minnesota in the 2022 offseason for a massive haul of picks and players, the most notable being Walker Kessler, himself a defensive standout.
