Will Hardy is putting in the work to get the Utah Jazz faithful on his side
By Chad Porto
It’s hard to replace someone like Quin Snyder but the Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy is trying.
Will Hardy has a tough task ahead of him, get the Utah Jazz back to the playoffs without Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and other top talents. All while showing the Utah Jazz fandom that he’s every bit as good as his predecessor, Quin Snyder.
Snyder resigned from the Jazz after the 2022 season, citing a need to move on, and many believing that Snyder was too unsure of the Jazz’s future to continue going. Now, Snyder is with the Atlanta Hawks, hoping to take them to the postseason.
Something he did seven out of the nine seasons he was in Utah. Now Hardy, a long-time San Antonio Spurs assistant before joining up with the Boston Celtics the year prior to his joining the Jazz, is doing all he can to not only replicate Snyder’s success but endear himself to the Salt Lake City locals.
Since the Jazz is the biggest pro sports team in the state of Utah, the head coach of the team has a lot of eyes on him. So it was a wise move for Hardy to agree to host a youth-coaching clinic for the state of Utah.
For just $35, you can show up and learn from an NBA head coach. The clinic will take place on Sept. 9 and will go from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Zions Bank Basketball Campus. Seeing how pro athletes and coaches are expected to contribute to the community in this day and age, it’s good to see Hardy opt to give back to others. For a small fee, of course.
It may not seem like a major gesture, but every little bit helps when you’re replacing a coach with the pedigree and fan support that Snyder had and still has. Sure, making the playoffs and winning an NBA title (or even just winning the conference title) will help more, but until that happens, every little bit helps.
