Jalen McDaniels
When the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Jalen McDaniels at the NBA Trade Deadline, the hope was that they were getting a difference-making 3-and-D player ahead of the playoff run. In the end, he didn’t play much of a role for the Sixers in the playoffs. In only eight games played in the postseason, McDaniels averaged just two points and two rebounds on 40 percent shooting from the field in only 13 minutes per contest.
It’s safe to say, as is the case for many Sixers players, that McDaniels’ future with the team is far from a sure thing. As an unrestricted free agent, he’ll be free to sign with whichever team he wants. And considering his limited role with the Sixers, the Utah Jazz could seemingly offer him something that Philly can’t: playing time with a much more defined role .
McDaniels is a developing player that the Jazz should target this offseason. He has the potential to be a difference-maker for a team down the line and just needs a bit of fine-tuning that the Sixers, understandably, couldn’t offer him.
Utah is still in transition, and McDaniels would get a bigger role as he continues to develop as a player.
