Zach Collins, San Antonio Spurs

As you would expect, the addition of Victor Wembanyama is going to have a huge impact on the rest of the San Antonio Spurs roster. And over the next few weeks, we’re going to see that more and more. One player who could be on the outside looking in is Zach Collins. He found his footing with the Spurs this past season, but under the assumption that Wemby is going to start from day 1, his future with the team is very much in doubt.

Add in the fact that he has a team option for next season, and it wouldn’t be that outlandish if the Spurs looked to find him a new landing spot. San Antonio is unlikely to decline his option. The most likely scenario is that they’ll accept his option and then try to trade him to avoid losing him for nothing this offseason.

Perhaps the Jazz could take a flier on Collins, a player who is on the rise. Utah feels good about Walker Kessler, but he’s very much still a developing player, and bringing in some competition next to him wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Plus, there’s a good chance Collins hasn’t even hit his ceiling as a player.

For a rebuilding team like the Jazz, Collins is the exact type of gamble they should be taking.
