5 potential Collin Sexton trades for the Utah Jazz to consider: Houston Rockets
Rockets receive: Collin Sexton, Kelly Olynyk
Jazz receive: Kevin Porter Jr., Usman Garuba, 2023 1st-Round Pick (via LAC or MIL), 2024 2nd-Round Pick, 2026 2nd-Round Pick
This deal would only be a realistic possibility if the Houston Rockets shocked the world and got James Harden back in town this summer. Otherwise, the Rockets would have no reason to break up their current core.
With Harden on the roster, adding Collin Sexton and Kelly Olynyk would make sense. Both players would help Harden and the Rockets effectively compete for a playoff spot.
Sexton’s ability to handle the ball and also play away from it would fit nicely alongside Harden. He’s proven to be an above-average three-point shooter, too, which would be a huge help.
The same can be said about Olynyk, who has become dependable from behind the arc, too. His floor spacing would make him an ideal fit in Houston, where he would be making his return.
Meanwhile, the Jazz would get a new point guard in the form of Kevin Porter Jr. He’s one year younger than Sexton, and while he’s not quite on the same level, Utah would give him yet another fresh start where he could continue to develop his game.
Simultaneously, Usman Garuba would be a project player for the Jazz. He came into the league with some defensive potential, and Utah could give him some freedom playing behind Walker Kessler.
And on top of that, the Jazz would receive a late first-rounder in this year’s draft and two second-round picks.
