Coby White
Adding Coby White to the roster could prove to be a bit tricky, as he will be a restricted free agent this offseason. However, if the Utah Jazz decide they really want him, they could attempt to overpay and price the Chicago Bulls out of re-signing him.
Chicago will have a chance to match, but if they decide they don’t want to pay as much as the Jazz are willing to, Utah will have a new point guard on their hands.
White and Lauri Markkanen played together in Chicago for a few years at the beginning of their careers, leading the charge amidst a Bulls rebuild that was never seen to fruition.
This year, White found a second gear toward the end of the season. Post-All-Star break, the Bulls point guard averaged 11.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. More impressively, he shot 49.0% from the field and 41.3% from behind the three-point line.
As things stand, the Jazz don’t have a go-to starting point guard, so bringing White on board would give them a great option, especially considering he’s only 23 years old.
Sometimes, as seen with Markkanen, players need a new environment to become the best version of themselves. By bringing White out of Chicago, maybe the Jazz could help White realize that success.
