Despite an outstanding effort by Utah, the Lakers outlasted the Jazz in overtime in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night, 135-133.

When you think of some of the great Canadian legends across history, who do you think of? You could pick Wayne Gretzky, Drake, maybe even Seth Rogen. However, after last night’s Jazz game vs. the Lakers , I would take Kelly Olynyk.

Olynyk dropped 23 points on 70% shooting from the field and a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc, also putting up 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the process. 12 of these points came in the fourth/OT when Olynyk shot a perfect 4-4 from the field. Two late threes were big components of what allowed the Jazz to stay competitive in this game for so long.

Along with Olynyk, the Jazz also had a few more solid performances.

Talen Horton-Tucker continues to shine as he dropped 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. While this is Horton-Tucker’s 4th 20+ point game in a row, it was one of his more less efficient outings, shooting 33% from the field, and 0-4 from three.

Yet another player to drop 20 on the team was Ochai Agbaji. The rookie continues to produce, putting up 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on over 50% shooting. In the last 16 games Agbaji’s started, he’s scored over 14 points in half of them. The first-round pick from Kansas continues to show his potential moving forward for Utah.

While the game was in the Lakers’ favor for the majority of the game, Utah made a late push in the fourth-quarter to push the game to OT.  However, like many teams have endured in the past, LeBron James decided to put the game to rest himself.

With 27 seconds left in the game, LeBron made a game winning layup to put the Lakers up two. Talen Horton-Tucker answered by missing a shot on the other end, and the game was over.

While the Jazz lost in a disappointing fashion, this is exactly what Danny Ainge is looking for at this point in the year. Losses.

After this game, Utah sits at 43 losses, with the Thunder looming on Thursday. If the Jazz continue to keep this losing streak (currently sitting at three in a row), they may be able to get better lottery odds come May. However, with the way the Jazz have been able to compete in these past two games, don’t be suprised if Utah’s able to sneak in a win before the season ends.
