The Raptors are a good landing spot
Toronto had the worst bench unit in the entire league last season, and while Scottie Barnes improves and Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam continue to play All-Star basketball, the Raptors should go all in on getting talent where they need it. Earlier this week, I proposed this mock trade. It might not be fully original, but it still makes sense for both sides.
The Jazz get two backup centers, and they could pick who they cut and who they keep, although my money is on Anchiwara, who has proved himself to be more than capable. Since Anchiwara is better than Richaun Holmes, the Jazz commit robbery by taking two first-round picks, but to be fair, the Raptors need Clarkson more than the Kings do.
This would be another good-faith deal. Utah and Sacramento are not as desirable destinations as Toronto, both on and off the court. Sending Clarkson to a contender for a slight overpay would be a win for Clarkson and the Jazz franchise, which is ultimately a win for the league.
