#2: Mike Conley

Mike Conley is unselfish, a sniper from long range, and a solid defender. The only reason teams aren’t lining up for him is his age: 34. Conley recently was selected to an All-Star game, but his peak is well behind him. He worked in Utah only because he could play next to a ball-dominant guard in Donovan Mitchell, and he could create for his teammates.

A team that stands out for him is the Dallas Mavericks. He can space the floor and run the offense, and with Spencer Dinwiddie coming off the bench, Dallas could keep running an elite backcourt offense behind Luka Doncic. With Jalen Brunson in New York forming the “mid-three,” Conley could get the run of the floor.

The only issue with Dallas as a trade partner is the salary cap. Dallas is very close to hitting the cap, and Conley is owed $22.6 million next season. The Jazz would have to take on the insane Davis Bertans contract, take a flyer on Frank Ntilikina, who has never lived up to the expectations, and point guard JaQuori McLaughlin, who is on a two-way contract, just to make the money work. Bertans isn’t a bad player, and Ntikikina is still quite young, plus Utah is compensated with a 2025 first-round pick.
