The New York Knicks have been after New York native Donovan Mitchell all off-season, and according to Shams Charaina, they’ve given the Utah Jazz and Danny Ainge a new offer for the three time All-Star. The two sides have seemingly been negotiating since Mitchell came on the market, and after a few weeks of silence, it appears that the New York Knicks have again tried their hand at landing Spida.

The latest offer, according to Shams is for Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin, additional salary as well as five first-round draft picks (three protected and two Knicks unprotected picks), but given what we know from Ainge, that is well below his somewhat unrealistic goal of seven first-round picks. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen that Utah has ‘liked’ other offers, but at the end of the day, it became clear that the Knicks could offer the best potential package, and while Ainge won’t like this deal, it seems that this may be a starting point for a deal that finally gets done.

With a few weeks before training camp, we will get a definitive answer soon, whether Utah want to move forward with Mitchell on the team, or move him for young players and picks, but it’s coming down to the wire where a potential deal may happen in the next week or two. If Ainge does indeed want more, the pivot may be to a deal that includes Quentin Grimes, Miles McBride, Evan Fournier and potential five or six first round picks, but at this point, it feels very unlikely that Utah gets seven first-round picks in return.

So what do you think? Was this just a low-ball offer from the Knicks to get the conversation going? What would you want in return if you were Danny Ainge? Can he realistically get what he wants for Mitchell? Would you move Mitchell at all? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
