For a while now, it’s been clear that the Knicks are the front runners to land Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, with the two sides even re-engaging in trade talks in recent days, but that doesn’t mean Donovan’s hometown team are the only ones in the race for Spida’s services in 2022/23 and beyond. Reports have come out that both the Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards could make a big play for No. 45, and with that in mind, Bleacher Report have released a piece ‘Fresh NBA trades to make new big three’s‘, including Mitchell heading to one of those two squads.

The idea behind this would be to pair Donovan with another scoring superstar in Bradley Beal, along with Kristaps Porzingis to potentially give Washington a team that can compete in the Eastern Conference with the likes of Milwaukee, Boston, Miami and Brooklyn. While it would be a great idea for Washington, the return for Utah isn’t as great, as they would be getting four future role players, as well as just three first round picks, which can already be matched by the Knicks, who have up to 8 controllable and tradable picks in their arsenal.

Sure, the Knicks may not want to give up over 6 of those, and even with just 5 included, the deal becomes much sweeter, but if New York don’t covet Mitchell as much as many expect, pivoting to Washington and this deal may help a rebuild. Johnny Davis has potential, and the other 3 players can all play immediately, and even become future trade pieces, but ultimately, this would be a trade that Washington convincingly win.

So what do you think? Is Mitchell on the move before the 2022/23 season begins? Is this a trade you’d do as a Jazz fan? What would you ideally like in return? As always, let us know all your thoughts in the comments.
