3. ‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich

Career numbers: 25.2 PPG, 4.7 APG, 4.3 RPG, 330 GP, 4 All Star selections, 3 All-NBA selections.

For his time, Pete Maravich was one of the most exciting players in the NBA, and given his natural flair, talent and charisma on the court, he is one of the players from the 70’s that could fit right in with today’s NBA talent. While Pete was an absolute star on his own, he unfortunately had little help in his time with the Jazz, which came when the team was located in New Orleans, and the team performed so poorly that shortly after his time, the NBA moved the Jazz to their current home in Salt Lake City.

Up against the star power in Los Angeles, Milwaukee and New York, the Jazz truly had no chance of competing in the NBA, but for a while, Maravich, with his iconic passing and shooting ability still made this team a very exciting one to watch.

Unfortunately, Pete’s stay in the Jazz colours only lasted six seasons, as he would move onto the Celtics squad for the 1980 season, shortly before retiring due to countless injuries, but even with a short lived career both for the Jazz and the NBA in general, he’s regarded as one of the greatest and most ahead of his time players ever.
