The Utah Jazz have a big decision to make before the 2022 season, as trading Donovan Mitchell may be the best course of action for this franchise, but if they intend on keeping their 2018 first-round draft pick, how does the franchise go forward in building a winner? With three years left on Spida’s contract, and with all the assets this team now possess after the Rudy Gobert trade, there’s a window upcoming for the Jazz to build a team that can contend in a few years, and potentially convince No. 45 to stay in Salt Lake City for the long haul.

It’s not going to be easy, and when the decision to go forward with Mitchell is made, it may take some time to overhaul this team around him, but if done properly, Utah could field a team with the potential to win in 2022/23, as well as grow together as a squad for future success. Ultimately, it’s more likely than not that the Jazz look to get maximum assets back for Donovan Mitchell, but if the team decides they can build a winner around him in the three years he’s got left, these are three players they should target to make that process happen (while they may not have the assets to get all three, if they could swing it, the Jazz would become an elite squad in the West).
