All the talk in recent weeks surrounding the Utah Jazz has been whether or not Donovan Mitchell is on the team for the beginning of the 2022 season, and whether he is or he isn’t, the Jazz still need to play basketball. Today, they announced when they’ll next be doing that, by unveiling a four game pre-season schedule ahead of the 2022/23 NBA season.

In a unique piece of news, the Jazz will be part of the first NBA game ever played in Alberta, Canada, as they take a trip North to play the Raptors at Rogers Place, home of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. Utah will follow that up by playing Portland, San Antonio and Dallas over a 10-day stretch, heading into what is bound to be one of the most intriguing seasons in Jazz franchise history, and even if the team decide to move on from Donovan Mitchell, there’s still plenty of intriguing pieces to make these games ones to watch for Jazz fans.

At this point, there are few guarantees about the upcoming season, as the team could re-tool to compete around Mitchell, or they could move him, and look to a tank for the upcoming draft with an incredible haul of draft picks that could significantly speed up a potential rebuild. This will give the Jazz yet another chance to take a look at some of their younger guys like Walker Kessler, Johnny Juzang and Jared Butler, and the outcomes of these games could very well determine which way this organization looks to go for the future.
