The Utah Jazz appear to be going through a semi-rebuild after moving All-NBA center Rudy Gobert, and things could really heat up if the Jazz decide to move on from All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell.
Utah Jazz: Video suggests Donovan Mitchell may be heading to Miami
The Heat and Knicks are the apparent frontrunners to land Mitchell if the Jazz decide to deal him away, which should be cause for some concern. Jazz minority owner Dwayne Wade is also the best player in Miami history and has a close relationship with Heat president Pat Riley, so there could be some intrigue worth exploring.
In a recent post, a Twitter user named TOP BETTER posted a video of a Summer League interaction between him and Wade. In the video, Wade offers an audible response of “yeah” when asked if he has plans to bring Mitchell to Miami.
The video could be doctored, as no one shows their face when they speak, so sound could have been added. On top of that, Wade doesn’t appear to be eager to chat with the fan, so he may not have even been listening. When I first saw the video on Tuesday, I was not worried.
Then BleacherReport shared the video. I don’t necessarily think BleacherReport is the best NBA news site, but it’s certainly more reliable than a random Twitter user.
Wade and Mitchell have a brother-like relationship, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Wade just wants what’s best for the younger star. Perhaps the video was doctored, perhaps Wade made a mistake, or perhaps the Jazz are in serious talks with the Miami Heat. Either way, expect a new-look Jazz in 2023 even if Mitchell remains in Salt Lake City.
