The Utah Jazz just traded one half of their All-Star duo in Rudy Gobert, and while reports have stated that they have no intentions of trading the other half, Donovan Mitchell, there have definitely been some rumblings throughout the NBA world. The Miami Heat and New York Knicks have both been constantly linked to the star guard for weeks, ever since another failed trip to the playoffs that saw Utah eliminated in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks.

Big name reporters like ESPN’s Brian Windhorst have been adamant that Utah intends to go forward with Spida as the franchise cornerstone, but now, a simple seven word tweet from the New York native has Jazz fans very worried. Today, Donovan Mitchell cryptically tweeted the following: “build ya up to tear ya down”, and while there’s every chance in the world this tweet isn’t about the Utah Jazz, the potential chance that it is has fans up in arms, and worried about their future.

The reported view from both Mitchell and Gobert coming out of the failed playoff run was it’s either ‘him or me’ for both men, so for Mitchell to tweet this just days after Gobert was traded away, really makes you think Mitchell’s future may potentially lay beyond Salt Lake City, even if he hasn’t officially requested a trade at this point.

There’s been no official stance change from the Utah Jazz point of view, but if this tweet is about the Jazz, we could potentially be seeing Utah blow it up in the very near future. There’s simply no way that the Jazz go into the 2022/23 NBA season with the roster the way it’s currently constructed, and while it may not be a trade of Donovan Mitchell, expect big movement coming out of Utah in the coming days and weeks.
