4. The black ‘Utah’ look

While this jersey isn’t offensively bad by any means, it was spoiled back in February, and just the pure lack of creativity and imagination make this one of the most underwhelming jersey reveals in NBA history. Teams like the Boston Celtics can get away with the simplistic blocked lettering on a basic jersey, because it’s part of the iconic look of one of the most historic franchises in sports, but with so many better choices and colours at their fingertips, the Jazz should be doing much better than this.

It’s easy to see why this decision was made, as the jersey and uniform are so simple to make, but with a few simple tweaks and a colour change to a more iconic Jazz colour (see the yellow/orange/red gradient of the past few years), this could have been so much better, and that’s the most disappointing part.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but given the history of the Jazz franchise and the bright, vibrant imagery and colours at the disposal of the organization, it’s incredibly hard for fans not to feel somewhat disappointed, even cheated out of something potentially fantastic. On top of these issues, black isn’t a colour that is usually synonymous with the Utah Jazz, and after some of the classics this team has produced, the fans certainly hope this one won’t be worn too often by the team in 2022/23.
