Utah Jazz playoff concern #3: Health

We’ve said it more than once: health is a concern for every team in the NBA. However, it seems particularly crucial to the success of the Utah Jazz.

That may be due to team construction. The Jazz do not have a top 10 player. They’re built on two top 20ish players and tremendous depth. Any compromise to that depth can prove fatal.

For example, last night they were without Bojan Bogdanovic and Danuel House. For an ordinary contender, that may not be a death knell. However, it rendered the Jazz unable to play two wings in the frontcourt, which their system relies on.

This team has struggled to stay healthy this season, and they’ve struggled to weather absences. It goes without saying that they’ll need both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell to be competitive.

They may, in fact, need just about everyone.

After all, the margins are slim among the teams chasing an NBA championship. The Utah Jazz, for all of their flaws, still find themselves in that fray.
