The Utah Jazz are fresh off of a signature win against the Chicago Bulls. They owed much of that performance to a stellar night from Donovan Mitchell. He won’t be available against the Los Angeles Clippers in tonight’s action.

The Clippers (36-36) shouldn’t pose too much of a threat to the Jazz (43-26) even in Mitchell’s absence. After all, they’ve been without Kawhi Leonard for the entire season. They’ve been without Paul George for a large portion of it too, for good measure.

The Jazz will be tested without their offensive engine. This is still a very winnable game for them.

Utah Jazz Starting Lineup

Besides Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic is still sidelined with a calf strain. Quin Snyder will likely roll out a lineup of Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Royce O’Neale, Rudy Gay and Rudy Gobert to start this contest.

Utah Jazz vs Los Angeles Clippers Prediction

After predicting a Jazz loss before a blowout win over the Clippers, we’re tempted to pick another. With that said, we won’t let superstition cloud objectivity here.

Mitchell’s absence will make this a more challenging game than it would be otherwise. The Clippers being .500 in spite of missing both of their best players for most of the season is a credit to the team. They’ve got one of the best coaches in the NBA, and a scrappy group of hardworking veterans.

They still probably don’t have enough offensive power to overcome Rudy Gobert’s rim protection. The Jazz will need to protect against Reggie Jackson’s prowess in isolation. The talented veteran is averaging 17.1 points per game this season.

This depleted Clippers team otherwise wants for offensive options. Of course, with Mitchell and Bogdanovic on the sidelines, the same could be said for the Jazz.

Look for Gobert’s defense to be the swing factor in this one.

Prediction: Jazz 111, Clippers 106
