Utah Jazz potential opponent #2: Minnesota Timberwolves

If you think the Utah Jazz are hungry, try talking to Minnesota Timberwolves fan. They’re hungry…like the wolf.

Apologies.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have exactly one playoff appearance in the past 18 seasons. They lost in the first round. It’s been a long, winding road for Timberwolves fans.

As it stands, they’re seventh in the Western Conference. They’d love to jump one more spot to avoid the play-in tournament. Assuming they advance, they seem like a strong candidate to complete an upset. They’re not just hungry: they’re good.

It all starts with Karl-Anthony Towns. He’s one of the best shooting big men in NBA history. Utah Jazz fans concerned with Gobert’s capacity to defend the perimeter would be on high alert throughout this entire hypothetical series.

Towns’ ability to space the floor allows the Timberwolves to feature a platoon of rugged defenders at the 4 spot. Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaden McDaniels and Taurean Prince will not allow Jazz shooters anything easy.

Oh, they also roster recent number one pick Anthony Edwards. He’s pretty good. Not to mention D’Angelo Russell. Between those two dynamic scorers and KAT, this Wolves offense has the opportunity to explode.

Finally, Patrick Beverley defends the point of attack. He’s not afraid to mix it up in the playoffs, to say the least.

We’re not saying the Wolves would be favored in a potential playoff matchup with the Utah Jazz. In fact, we’d put our money on a Jazz victory.

We’d just lose a lot of sleep until it happened.
