Utah Jazz dud: Jordan Clarkson
We’ve already made the case several times that Jordan Clarkson cannot co-exist with Donovan Mitchell. The evidence is mounting.
Last night, Clarkson finished with 13 points on 5/14 shooting from the field and 2/10 shooting from deep. The former figure is unremarkable, while the latter is particularly weak.
Clarkson just didn’t look like he could find his rhythm. That’s effectively been the problem all season. It’s hard for a ball-dominant, undersized scoring guard to find rhythm when another ball-dominant, undersized scoring guard teammate is outperforming him on a nightly basis.
It’s not a knock on Clarkson’s talent. That bears repeating. It’s a knock on the fit between Clarkson and Mitchell. With the trade deadline being today, we’ll see if the Jazz brass rectifies that issue.
It’s basically fine if they don’t. After all, the Utah Jazz proved themselves genuine NBA title contenders last night. All they really need is to stay healthy, and stay together.
