Utah Jazz: A rather discouraging Joe Ingles update
By Matt Giles
Utah Jazz gem Joe Ingles will not play again this season — and then some.
The Utah Jazz suffered their fifth straight loss on Sunday night. As for Monday, well, it hasn’t delivered uplifting news either for a squad that has dropped 11 of its last 13 outings while dipping to No. 4 in the Western Conference standings with a 30-21 overall record.
On Monday morning, Joe Ingles underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) testing, revealing a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. His knee buckled while driving to the basket during Sunday’s 126-106 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
One bright spot is that there was no other structural damage.
A relatively discouraging timetable for the Utah Jazz treasure
The franchise noted that Joe Ingles, who is in his eighth season as a beloved member of the Utah Jazz, will have surgery within the next few weeks and remain out indefinitely. ESPN.com senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski later reported the 34-year-old will miss the rest of the current season and still be in the rehabilitation phase when the 2022-23 campaign begins in October.

On his way to becoming the Jazz’s all-time 3-point leader (1,071), Joe Ingles has never missed more than a handful of games in any season. And he had only five absences to his name this go-round while averaging 7.2 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.9 boards.
Utah returns to action at 8 p.m. MT Wednesday with a home battle against the Denver Nuggets (28-21).
