Utah Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic 2K rating: 81 (-1)

We found ourselves surprised to see Bogdanovic’s rating decrease. It just feels like he’s been playing well.

Chalk it up to cognitive bias. Bogey has had a couple of big games, but evidently, they’ve been mixed in with some quiet stinkers.

In January, the typically sharpshooting forward is hitting a meager 26.9% of his 7.2 three-point attempts per game. Bogdanovic’s value is predominantly tied to his three-point shooting. If a player is going to be one dimensional, most would agree that in today’s game, three-point shooting is the best dimension.

Still, if Bogdanovic isn’t delivering from deep, he’s not delivering much of anything at all. This 81 overall rating is probably baking in some assumed regression to the mean from downtown.

Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson 2K rating: 77 (-1)

Based on the way we’ve written about Jordan Clarkson, some readers might expect us to advocate for a sub-70 2K rating.

Wrong. Clarkson, for his warts, is a remarkably skilled basketball player. In fact, his numbers over the time that Donovan Mitchell has missed have been outstanding.

So outstanding, in fact, that we’re going to surprise some readers. Jordan Clarkson deserved to see his rating increase NBA 2K’s most recent player ratings. His responsibilities since the last ratings were released have only increased, and he’s responded in turn.

As such, he’s had a greater platform to display his ball-handling wizardry and elite shot creation. Based on his recent play, NBA 2K22’s developers should have rewarded his play with a 79 overall rating.

With that said, if we’re looking at the rating as a measure of how a player has performed throughout the season in general, 77 seems roughly fair.
