Utah Jazz player reaches a major career milestone
By Matt Giles
Utah Jazz gem Joe Ingles is now an official member of the 5,000-point club.
On Monday night, Joe Ingles shot 2-for-7 from the field — all from 3-point land — finishing with only six points off the bench in the Utah Jazz’s 112-102 home win over the Charlotte Hornets. But that scoring total was just enough for the 6-foot-8, 220-pound guard from Australia to hit a significant milestone in his eight-year NBA career, all with the Jazz.

As it stands, with 5,000 points to his name in the league, Ingles sits at No. 22 on the franchise’s all-time scoring list. The 34-year-old now trails the No. 21 spot, Jeff Malone, by 158 points. And he is roughly 2,500 points from entering the top 10, a feat that may well be in reach should he remain healthy and with the Jazz into his late 30s while avoiding a severe decline in his game.
Another solid season in the making from Utah Jazz reserve Joe Ingles
Along with Rudy Gobert, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles is one of only four Utah Jazz players who have played in all 30 games this season. Further speaking to his durability, “Jinglin’ Joe” has never missed more than 10 games in any regular season with the Jazz, and he’s played in all 82 games on three occasions.
So far in his current campaign, Ingles is averaging 7.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 39.6 percent beyond the arc, and 76.9 from the charity stripe.
Joe Ingles and the Jazz (21-9), who remain at No. 3 in the Western Conference standings and are now four games back of the first-place Phoenix Suns (25-5), return to action at 7 p.m. MT Thursday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-16). Then they will welcome the Dallas Mavericks (15-15) to Salt Lake City at 8 p.m. MT on Christmas Day.
