Utah Jazz dud: Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell’s first job is to stay aggressive. He accomplished that goal in last night’s contest. Unfortunately, that’s about the only positive to be taken away from his performance.

Mitchell finished this game shooting 5/20 from the field, and 3/10 from three-point range. Credit the star guard for trying to compensate by getting teammates involved, as he finished with 8 assists. Unfortunately, his efforts were nearly nullified by his 4 turnovers.

Spida just couldn’t find his rhythm in this contest. If he had, it’s safe to say that the Grizzlies wouldn’t have been within punching distance near the end of the game. As well as Bogdanovic and Gobert (not to mention Mike Conley and Royce O’Neale) performed in this contest, this Utah Jazz offense goes as far as Donovan Mitchell takes it.

Last night, he just wasn’t able to take it far enough.

This was the type of loss that’s hard to quantify in basketball terms. A second chance here, or a loose ball there, and this could easily have been a Utah Jazz victory. Luckily, that should make it all the easier for the squad to get back on track for their next contest.
