The epic 3-point streak of a Utah Jazz player sure was fun while it lasted.

Consider the countless 3-point heaves from Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson that belong in the “prayer” category. With that in mind, one could say it’s a wonder how the 6-foot-4, 195-pound bucket-getter went 99 consecutive regular-season games with at least one make from downtown.

On the other hand, some might claim Clarkson’s average of 7.8 attempts per game in his two-plus years with the Jazz dings the streak’s value a bit. But when factoring in that the 29-year-old reached 99 games despite drawing a starting nod in only three of them, well, that must significantly add to the impressiveness of the feat.

As for Clarkson, following his streak-snapping 0-for-7 beyond the arc in Utah’s 107-95 road win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year expressed the following view to the media about the prolonged stretch:

“It’s over. Start another one. Move forward.”

Where the Utah Jazz weapon’s streak ranked in the end

Before his frigid shooting in Milwaukee, Jordan Clarkson’s 99 games trailed only the 131 games from Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Steph Curry on the list of active streaks. Now, Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat sits in second place with his 54-game clip.

Earlier this season, Clarkson moved past a former 95-game streak of Golden State’s Klay Thompson into fourth place on the list of all-time 3-point streaks. The top two spots still belong to Curry; his current 131-game streak needs 27 more to surpass his record of 157 straight outings, which spanned almost two full years from November 2014 to November 2016.

Worth pointing out, the last time Clarkson had gone without a made 3-pointer was on Jan. 27, 2020, in a home loss to the Houston Rockets. That was his 16th game for the Jazz after coming to Salt Lake City from the Cleveland Cavaliers in an early-season trade.

Now, as Jordan Clarkson said, it’s simply time for another 3-point streak to begin. He’ll have that chance at 7 p.m. MT Tuesday when the Utah Jazz (5-1) host the Sacramento Kings (3-3).
