T11. Evaluating the last three Utah Jazz contributors of the night

Combined stats for Elijah Hughes, Malik Fitts, and Miye Oni:

  • Seven minutes
  • Two points
  • 0-for-0 from the field, 2-for-2 from the foul line
  • One rebound
  • Zero assists
  • Zero steals
  • Zero blocks
  • Zero turnovers
  • One foul

In particular, Elijah Hughes and Malik Fitts showed significant promise during the preseason slate for the Utah Jazz. And Miye Oni was at times a key contributor for the franchise last season. But judging from their limited action against the Oklahoma City Thunder, it appears unlikely that any of them will crack the regular rotation this year.

In fairness, the mere mop-up duty at the end — after warming the bench every minute up until then — prevented them from getting into a rhythm. Besides, there’s not much anyone can accomplish with three or fewer minutes of playing time, no matter the circumstances.

So we’ll just have to wait for further on-court work from Hughes, Fitts, and Oni before handing them report cards containing any actual letter grades.
