Lately, rumors are circulating about a possible rebrand for the Utah Jazz. It feels like an appropriate time, given that the Jazzmen have been sporting nearly the exact same design since 2010. The longevity of the current white, yellow and royal blue design makes sense. It’s a nice, classic look. It’s still time for something new, for the simple reason that as a rule, new is fun.
Speaking of which, now feels like a perfectly fun time to rank the best jerseys in Utah Jazz history. Readers should keep in mind that these rankings are entirely subjective. The day that analytic models can tell us which jersey designs are the most aesthetically pleasing will probably be the day that FanSided employs robots to write articles about the NBA.
A quick caveat: we’re not considering alternates in this article. We’re only ranking primary jerseys in Utah Jazz history. If your personal favorite Jazz jersey is an alternate, go read one of our other, basketball-focused articles. Thank you.
What are the best Utah Jazz jerseys in franchise history?
5. 2004-2010 Utah Jazz jersey
It’s possible that it’s just too difficult to dissociate an era of mediocrity from this design. Of course, it’s equally possible that it’s simply a mediocre design, period.
Credit the Utah Jazz for trying something different during this era. It just didn’t work. The light blue on the darker blue feels like an amateur league design. In fact, variations of powder blue just generally don’t work.
Outside of that, these jerseys are just plain boring. They scream 7th seed. This was the shortest tenured jersey design in Utah Jazz history, and with good reason. They switched to (almost) the current design in 2010, and haven’t looked back until now.
Thankfully.
