Utah Jazz: Where do they stack up in the Western Conference heading into this year?

As we head into the new NBA season, rosters are, for the most part, complete. Besides a small move here and there, and barring any major trades, the rosters we have are most likely the rosters that teams will carry into this new season. It’s time to take a look at where the Utah Jazz stack up with the rest of the conference for the regular season.

Projected Standings (Record):

  1. Utah Jazz (56-26)
  2. Los Angeles Lakers (54-28)
  3. Phoenix Suns (52-30)
  4. Portland Trail Blazers (50-32)
  5. Golden State Warriors (50-32)
  6. Dallas Mavericks (48-34)
  7. Denver Nuggets (46-36)
  8. Los Angeles Clippers (44-38)
  9. Memphis Grizzlies (43-39)

If you are a Jazz fan, you probably agree with the top of this. If you are a fan of most of the other teams, you may have questions about this list. How are the Lakers not on top after adding Russell Westbrook? How is Phoenix third after they just won the West and brought back the same team? How is Portland fourth when they lost in the first round of the playoffs to Denver who didn’t even have Jamaal Murray?

All understandable points.

Take a look at the rest of the slides to see how each team is broken up into tiers and why they are where they are. For Jazz fans, this article aims to answer one question:

Are the Utah Jazz a Top Tier Western Conference team?
