Gordon Hayward’s Return
The Utah Jazz wore their City Edition uniforms in Gordon Hayward’s first game back to Utah since departing the Jazz for the Boston Celtics in free agency. Obviously, the environment was very hostile towards Hayward, which created an even louder crowd for an epic game on national television.
The Jazz won the game, with Joe Ingles leading all scorers with 27 points. He made 5 three-pointers and also dished out 7 assists. Rudy Gobert had a monster double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Jae Crowder came off the bench and played a huge game, scoring 20 points with 4 three-pointers and 6 rebounds.
Hayward struggled in his return to Utah, scoring 13 points on just 3-9 shooting from the field. He was booed every single time he touched the basketball. Terry Rozier led the Celtics in scoring with 22 points.
It was one of the more memorable games of the 2018-19 season. The Utah Jazz beat one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference, and had bragging rights over Hayward and his Celtics. Go back and re-watch it — it’s a lot of fun!
